Christmas and stuff since then...

I sure wish attaching a jillion photos to a blog post was easier. I think that's one of the reasons I don't blog as often as I want because it takes so stinkin long to up load all my photos 5 at a time!

1. Christmas was great. The boys were excited; Anthony because it was Christmas and he got new toys and James because well, it was another day. He's just happy all the time. :)
Santa was way too good to us this year. I think we'll have to send him a letter to not bring so much next year to humble us. :/

Favorite presents were:
Adam- Mario Galaxy 2, Broke by Glenn Beck and of course, his Strat he got as an early present.
Anthony- Small trampoline, train table and Color Wonder markers
Jimmy- Vtech piano (Anthony loves it, too. Me? Not so much...) and stacking wooden blocks
Katie- my advent calendar made by my mom, a Cricut Expression!!! (don't worry, Adam got a wicked good Black Friday deal for this) AND I'm getting one of THESE in a week!!!! I'm so pee-my-pants excited about it! I've wanted one for SOOO long. I will for sure be posting some wicked awesome pictures after I get it!!!
Christmas explosion in our living room

2. Last year was our first year making a turkey ourselves. I made Adam handle the nasty, squishy raw bird because well, it's nasty. And so he did and did it again for that Christmas and this past Thanksgiving.

WELL, this year for Christmas, Adam thought it more important to assemble Anthony's new trampoline than to help me with "the bird". *whimper*

Since it was just us for dinner, I didn't get an entire bird, I bought (what I thought was) just the breast. And that would be less nasty than all the bones and juice and skin flaps and holes and death smell.

Turns out
it was the whole body of the bird minus arms and legs. So all nastiness is still there. *shudder*

I bravely took the nasty thing out of the bag, rinsed it's body out, poured all the nasty juice out and threw it into my crock pot as fast as I could so I could be done touching it. I thought my troubles were over!

Alas, the bird was just a little too tall for my crock pot lid to go over it. GAH!

"It doesn't fit!", I wailed to Adam. He said to just crush it with the lid. Ew.

Using the lid to try and crush the bird down didn't work so I had to touch it. AGAIN. to take it back to the sink and I have to CUT through it's RIBS and then break multiple bones to...ugh!! I'm having such a hard time writing this!!
Reliving the nightmare!!
I can
smell it and hear it!!!
GAAAHHHH!

*sigh* Breathe...

I had to yell while doing all the bone crushing so I couldn't hear it anymore. (The inside of a dead thing it disgusting looking, btw.) It took way too long finish because, as you can imagine, bones are kind of strong. I finally got it done and threw it back in the pot. And it fit! Hooray!

I cooked the nasty thing into a delicious, juicy meal.

I told Adam I hated him for making me do that and that I am NEVER. NEVER doing it again. If he won't come touch the nasty nasty bird, we won't eat it. I'll make Mac n cheese instead.

I don't' really hate Adam. I just hate that he made me touch it. :)

3. New Year's was uneventful. I don't think it's as fun once you have kids. :) I forgot to chill the Martinelli's and we missed midnight by 10 seconds so it was very anti-climatic. But Happy New Year everyone!
I don't really make resolutions because I never fulfill them so why make them? :/ But I do want to just generally be better. Just a little bit better at everything. Any improvement is good, right?

4. Anthony started sunbeams yesterday! He FREAKED out screaming that he wanted to go to nursery. I sat with him in sharing time explaining that nursery is for babies and that big kids go to primary and that he gets to sing songs, etc.
He stopped crying when he got called on to help out the primary president with her lesson. Then he LOVED it and raised his hand all the time wanting to get called on!
Hopefully next week will go a little smoother.

5. There's a park around here that has a really pretty walking path up and down some hills with a little creek running through it. We all went there the other day. Anthony LOVES being outside!

6. Is there a face any sweeter than this?? I submit that there is not!

Today's blog post is made possible by my boys taking naps at the same time!!
Jimmy was already down and then Anthony did this all by himself...the shoes and everything. LOL

I have 2 comments.

1. I have a Canon t1i and love it. I love learning about photography and trying to take amazing pictures. (Emphasis on "trying") Great hobby. I'm sure you will enjoy it as well. :)

2. We now teach Sunbeams. So we had all the kids fresh from nursery yesterday. Every single kid probably had a meltdown at least once. It's a hard transition.

AH...I have the same issues with raw poultry! I gag when I have to cook it. Don't know if its the salmonela or just the big fat juicy rubbery dead bird. GROSS!
I usually wear a garbage bag and rubber gloves! Glad to hear I'm not the only one that hates that!!
